Living in Jumeirah Lake Towers
Known as JLT, it’s a cluster of towers set around man-made lakes, right next to Dubai Marina. Popular with professionals and couples for its Metro access, lakeside walks and rents that are usually a step below the Marina.

History
JLT is run by DMCC, the free zone set up in 2002. The towers were first announced in 2004, set around man-made lakes beside Sheikh Zayed Road, and the first tower was finished at the end of 2006.
The two Metro stations opened in 2010. JLT now covers about 2 million square metres, with 26 clusters of towers around three lakes. 68 towers are complete, and the total will reach 80 once the community is finished. More than 17,000 companies are registered in the free zone.
What it’s like to live here
The towers sit in clusters, each with its own shops, cafes and restaurants at the base, joined by walkways around the lakes. It’s busy on weekdays with people working in the free zone and calmer in the evenings, when the lake paths and JLT Park fill with joggers and dog walkers.
Who it suits
Young professionals, couples and small families who want to be close to the Marina and the beach without paying Marina rents. Investors like it for steady demand and a wide range of studios and one-bedroom apartments.
Getting around
JLT has two Metro Red Line stations, DMCC and Sobha Realty, and sits beside Sheikh Zayed Road and First Al Khail Street. The JLT Link electric shuttle runs two loops with 13 stops for a Dh3 fare. The Marina, JBR and the tram are a short walk across the road.
Schools, healthcare and shopping
Nurseries in JLT include Dewdrops, Learning Ladders, Paddington, Kid Kare and Oakfield. Schools nearby include Emirates International School in The Meadows, King’s School Al Barsha and the American School of Dubai.
Clinics include Dr K Medical Centre and Armada Medical Centre, with Mediclinic Meadows, Saudi German Hospital and Al Zahra Hospital close by. There are two Carrefour branches, Al Maya and Freshmart supermarkets.
