History
Dubai Sports City broke ground in 2004 as part of Dubailand and opened in 2008, the same year The Els Club golf course opened. The first international match at the 25,000-seat cricket stadium was played in 2009.
Today it combines sports venues, including the ICC Academy and a sports village with an Olympic running track, with homes. Victory Heights has about 1,000 villas, alongside Gallery Villas, Bloomingdale and many mid-rise apartment buildings. The whole area covers about 50 million sq ft.
What it’s like to live here
A quiet, laid-back community with lots of green space. Apartments are mostly mid-rise and good value, while the villa areas around the golf course are popular with families.

Getting around
Dubai Internet City Metro station is about 12 minutes’ drive away, and buses F34, F38 and J02 serve the area. Al Khail Road, Hessa Street and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road are close. Dubai International Airport is about 27 minutes by car and Dubai Marina about 22.
Schools, healthcare and shopping
Schools include Victory Heights Primary School and Dwight School Dubai, with The Wonder Years Nursery for younger children.
Aster Clinic and Saudi German Clinic are in the area, and NMC Specialty Hospital is about 14 minutes away. City Centre Me’aisem is close by and Mall of the Emirates is about 15 minutes away.
Things to check before you rent or buy
- There is no Metro, so you will most likely need a car
- Queues at the entry and exit points at peak times
- Building quality varies between apartment blocks
- Golf-view villas carry a premium
