Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, launched the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 on Tuesday. Announced on X, the plan aims to make Dubai the world’s best city to live in with 200 projects ensuring residents can access essential services within 20 minutes.
Sustainability
The strategy aims to enhance wellbeing and environmental sustainability with 376 stations monitoring water and air quality and the world’s largest waste-to-energy project. It includes eight wildlife reserves covering 1,266 square kilometers and marine reserves over 32 square kilometers.
To preserve Dubai’s biodiversity, home to 1,524 species, the plan will expand electric charging stations and develop the world’s largest single-site solar park, the Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Park.
Green Spaces
The strategy aims to enhance green spaces for their environmental benefits, such as reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality.Plans include increasing tree and flower planting in streets, roads, squares, and parks, and implementing sustainable irrigation projects.
By 2033, the goal is to expand public parks from 23 to 64 square kilometers and develop over 200 parks and squares across Dubai.
Recreation
The plan to enhance Dubai’s beaches includes upgrades to Jebel Ali Beach, Jebel Ali Caravans Camp Beach, Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, and Al Mamzar Beaches.
Key targets are a 300% increase in public services by 2025, 100% accessibility for people of determination and senior citizens, a 300% expansion of beach cycling tracks, a 60% increase in night swimming beaches, and new women-only beaches.
These initiatives support the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to increase public beach length by 400%.
Tourism
To enhance tourism, the strategy will boost the appeal of areas like Hatta, Lehbab, Al Marmoom, Al Lisaili, Al Faqa’, Nizwa, Al Awir, and Margham. It includes creating family investment opportunities, supporting local farmers, and preserving natural reserves and archaeological sites.
Key initiatives feature a 162% increase in services such as health, schools, parks, and mosques, meeting housing needs for nationals in outlying areas, developing the Saih Al Salam Path with events and investments, and various upgrades in Hatta, including hiking, hospital, educational facilities, and housing projects for nationals.
